I’ve been looking for a playmate for Gijs for some time now, and I finally bit the bullet. I took an option on Naughty, a blue lynx mitted Ragdoll kitten. If all goes as planned I will finalize the deal on Sunday, when I go visit the cattery. Haven’t decided in name yet, Naughty is his pedegree name.

Just watched the movie Wall-E, an animation by Disney’s Pixar Studios. Very enjoyable movie, and Wall-E is definately the cutest robot I’ve seen in ages

Came across the webcomic ‘Sequential Art‘ today, through Stumble. Had a lot of laughs going through their archives.

Went to Les Miserables again today, with B. The Musical was awesome, as expected. It was nice to see some things I felt about the first time, confirmed. I still felt that Suzan Seegers (Cosette) was the lesser of the female actors. Not that she is a bad singer, far from it, but to me her style of singing doesn’t quite suit this musical. Nurlaila Karim (Fantine) and Celine Purcell (Eponine) were good, as expected. Jamai Looman was a pleasant surprise. His performance was very good in my opinion, coming close to Michael Ball in my not so honest opinion. Afterwards we had a nice Tapas dinner is Rijswijk. This was the first ‘official’ tapas dinner for me, and I quite liked it.
All in all a great day in excellent company.

Last weekend had it’s ups and downs. The weekend started of on a sad note, with the news that my grandmother’s former partner had passed away. Not entirely unexpected, and, all things considered, a blessing for him and his family, but sad news nonetheless.
Had a nice dive on Saturday, followed by some house cleaning activities, because the RPG gang would come over on Sunday for a gaming session. We had a blast. Playing ‘in the flesh’ offers so much more interaction than the electronic version, despite the disadvantage of making schedules meet.
Watched a rather nice movie Sunday night, when the rest had left: Idiocracy. This is a comedy by Mike Judge, which received extremely little promotion, and was quietly released to DVD for some reason. While not as great as Office Space, it was a pleasant surprise, considering I completely unaware of the movie until, well, pretty much Sunday evening.
Had a nice dive in Maarseveen today. As expected it was cold and dark. Saw a largish pike, but not much else. Didn’t mind it though, it was relaxing. I was a bit worried the Greece experience might have spoiled me for clear and warm(er) foreign waters.
It did make my decision to buy a dry suit easier. A wetsuit, like I currently use, keeps you warm by isolating your body in a small layer of body-heated water, isolated by foamy neoprene. The problem isn’t as much the temperature underwater, but also getting out, and being wet and cold. Especially when dressing up from behind an car, this gets cold fast. A dry suit does the same thing - keeping you warm - but without the wet part. All that gets wet is your head and hands (and even the latter could optionally be kept dry as well), the rest is kept dry. The isolation comes from layers of clothing worn underneath the suit. In itself the suit offers virtually no isolation. Learning to dive with a dry suit is gonna be a challenge, as bouyancy with a dry suit is different than that of a wet suit.
