Went shopping for a suit today, with Lya. My old suit was about 10 years old, and it showed. As suit shopping is not something I often do, I was expecting quite an ordeal. The first suit I tried at the Boss store in the Bijenkorf fit like a glove, so that was done with. We walked around downtown Utrecht some more, visited the Labyrinth (formerly Elf Store) and Joker stores, as well as some bookstores like Broese and Piet Snot.
Afterwards we watched Howl’s Moving Castle, and had dinner at Asian Delight.
Went to the Duikvaker expo today. There was a lot to see; lots of stands by the big brands in diving equipment, and also all sorts of information about various diving resorts, clubs and what have you, both here in the Netherlands and abroad. What stood out, in a very positive way, was the enthousiasm from the people giving their “sales pitch”.
Got some ideas about holiday possibilities, but definately nothing final yet.
Yesterday morning a service engineer gave my heating installation its yearly maintenance. When I came home from work, all seemed fine, but as I was early, the thermostat probably hadn’t kicked in yet. When I came home from shopping, however, it was possitively tropical inside. Quick inspection learned that for some reason it just goes full blast when it is engaged by the thermostat, but it doesn’t stop doing so when the thermostat disengages. Nice.
Another engineer will come by this afternoon. I just hope it won’t be a total write-off, as the installation is already fairly old.
Update: seems like the thermostat itself was the culprit. Fixed that.
