Because of my aunt & uncle’s shared birthday, the family got a guided tour through Amsterdam’s Artis Zoo. The weather was great, and I was able to shoot some nice pictures. The unedited pictures can be found here.

Watched the 2nd season opening of Heroes tonight. The new season takes of well, with old and new faces and storylines all over the place. Gonna enjoy this in the months to come

Recently there was a news items about cops having to work second jobs to make ends meet. On the news sources that allow for comments, a lot of people were (of course) moaning about how the police are not worth even that salary, how other jobs make even less, and so on. What the clueless unwashed masses conveniently forget is that there is not conflict of interest when a construction worker has a second job. However, when we’re talking about a police officer, that isn’t quite the case. A second job opens up a whole lot of potential for corruption, conflicting interests and what have you. But no, Joe Sixpack is better of moaning about useless traffic inspections. While one can argue about the use of these inspections, if you don’t break the law, you won’t get a fine…

As usual, reading the public reactions on sites like AD and De Telegraaf makes you worry about the fact that these people are actually allowed to vote…

Spent the day playing Magic at Sebastiaan’s place in Assen today. Initially, I didn’t plan on attending, but as my original plans for the day fell through I decided to go anyway. It also was good to catch up with Johan, Vincent and Ferry, neither of which I had seen in a while. I enjoyed playing the game more that I anticipated, although at the end of the day my head was spinning with cards and combinations and what not.
