IMAP

After a long period of looking for a replacement for my Eudora mail client, I decided to use XS4ALL’s IMAP feature. This essentially means that all my mail will be kept on their server, with any IMAP client being able to interface with it. XS4ALL’s webmail client (based on Squirrelmail) is essentially a IMAP client too. Besides the obvious advantage of having all your mail available, everywhere, it’s also rather conveniant for testing mail clients.

Currently I’m playing around with the latest versions of Thunderbird en Sylpheed.

Upgrade…

Seems like the fiber connection I’m supposedly getting soonish is going to be 24 Mbps instead of 10 Mbps. That’s just too bad :P.

Update: gave them a call, and they’re gonna hook me up June 11th. Or at least, that’s when they’ll try to :D.

Goutweed

..or Zevenblad (Aegopodium podagraria) is a pretty nasty weed. It spreads all over your garden through it’s underground root network. I tracked one plant for about 7 meters today. It looks like a small, inconspicuous plant, the kinds you’d just pull out. Then you notice it’s rather long root… and find it’s connected to pretty much all the other small, inconspicuous looking weeds in your garden. The way it’s root system seems to work is that it can survive separation, continuing as 2 diffent plants. Course of attack is  attrition. Keep pulling it out whenever you see it.

Anyway, transplanted the Forget-me-not (Myosotis silvatica) and another, presumably cultivated plant. No idea what the latter is (green, leaves, plant. Kinda sums it up) , but is had a rather firm grasp of the soil around it, so I kinda doubt it survived the operation. Reason for moving is that I’m planning a shed in that corner of the garden.

Ladybugs

As we speak, litteraly dozens of ladybug larvae are climbing up plants, hedges and walls in my garden, and going into pupae stage. A few have already hatched from their pupae, and are drying out in the wind. Photo below is the seven-spot ladybird, although its seventh spot isn’t really visible here. Once it dries out it will become the red colour we all know.

Heroes 120 “Five Years Gone”

Last Heroes episodes was one of the better ones. It continues where 119 left of, with Hiro and Ando in the future New York. And a dark future it is. Some very nice & nasty plot points :D
