Curses…

Seems like my monitor didnt quite survive the move. The picture itself is okay-ish, but the colors at the edges are off…

Connectivity at last!!!

After almost a month of lousy internet connection, I’m now fully back online. While I may have to dot the t’s and cross the i’s as far as the infrastructure is concerned, the basics are now working as designed.

Next step: world domination

Slow progress

As it turns out progress was a bit slower than inticipated. The smaller rooms took relatively longer, because there was more time lost measuring and cutting floorboards to size.

Anyway, the floor is now done, 95% of the painting is done, hoping to finish that today/tomorrow. Then there’s a lot of minor stuff that will take ages, and putting the last bits and pieces in boxes so it can be moved.

It’s starting to look like something…

Did a lot of the floors today, as well as the drain. If everything goes as planned, we’ll be finished with those tomorrow, do the painting on Friday, and start moving stuff over the weekend.

Ze water, iet ies risink…

A quick test reveiled that the drain for the washing machine isnt up to the task. 20 years of very little water made sure there’s a shitload of deposits in that drain. Luckily replacing it wont be that hard.

Also, the recent rain seems to have raised the water table, as the crawling space is a lot wetter than it was a few days a go.

BSG 307 “Hero”

Last BSG episode was mainly backgrounds. Adama seems to have some pretty nasty skeletons in his closet…

spoilers ahead

The Cable Guy

Managed to do most of the cabling that had to be routed through the crawling space. Both antenna and telephony cables now end up neatly in the fusebox closet. Also routed two network cables and an antenna cable to that closet; one network cable to the storage room, the other two towards the spot where the media center is going to be. All that remains is drilling a hole in the storage room for the cable, and pulling 4 speaker cables for the surround speakers.

Science Fiction and Fantasy

Again inspired by Lyanna. Agree with her sentiments about the quality of the list.

Hmmmz…

Seems like the walls will give us more delays, before we can start with the floor, and following that, actually moving my stuff. We’re still on for the weekend of the 2nd, but all the margin has been pretty much used. As it stands the primer can probably be applied tomorrow, but that means that the finishing layer might be pushed past the weekend, painting after than, and we should be able to finish the floor by the end of next week.

At this point the only part that’s really bugging me is the bathroom. Something has to be done about that sooner or later.

I really don’t understand…

… why the CDA (Christian Democrats) party is getting the amount of votes in the polls as they are. The other parties in the government are punished. D66 (Democrats) went from sizable to virtually nonexistent, VVD (Liberals) took a heavy blow, yet CDA is rewarded. Hello?? CDA was the mainstay of the goverment, and as such largely responsible for the current clusterfuck. For all the people’s claims about being unhappy with the government, why do they keep voting CDA? Hell, why do MORE people vote CDA than before?
